Busselton Hospice Care Inc

Busselton Hospice Care Inc (BHCI) appointed Bright Communications in September 2019 to provide communications strategy and support to the organisation for a six-month period.

At the time of our appointment, BHCI was experiencing a drop in public visibility and donations following the move of inpatient care from its Craig Street premises to the Busselton Health Campus.

There is strong community support for and awareness of the important work of the Hospice but we needed to keep their services top of mind.

The Hospice had a requirement to increase its annual budget with the introduction of a new Community Outreach Program so improving the Hospice’s presence was crucial in raising additional funds.

We met with the Hospice team and prepared a communications plan which guided our work, provided a multi-pronged approach, which included sponsorship outreach, media relations, streamlining communications, leveraging from new initiatives, social media management, the creation of a database and e-newsletter, stakeholder engagement and website improvement recommendations.

During the campaign we were able to double their social media following and significantly increase their social media engagement; provide a greater presence for the Hospice in local media; provide greater community presence via the establishment of a regular e-news, provide a greater online presence for the organisation and streamline their external communications.
